There are a few places that you can watch to avoid traffic. You can try Tamarac Park or the Mall Parking lot near freeway access. I know people go to the top of the parking garages to see the displays.

Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with Free Concerts & Fireworks
Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with a bang as The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau hosts "Memorial Day in The Woodlands," a free live music event at Waterway Square complete with fireworks, live entertainment, face painters, balloonists and more. The event is Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 from 6 – 9 pm.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair and unwind to the sounds from local pop/rock band August 83 from 6:00 – 7:20 pm on Saturday, May 28, followed by Alter Ego performing the latest alternative and contemporary hits from 7:40 – 9:00 pm.
On Sunday, May 29, enjoy live music from country favorite the Buck Yeager Band from 6:00 – 7:20 pm followed by Breakfast at Tiffany's with a variety of classic 80s favorites from 7:40 – 9:00 pm.
A grand display of fireworks will light up the night's sky each evening beginning at 8:55 pm.
