Cold Stone Creamery, and reminder about ice cream.

So, there have been a lot of reminders about the 20% off Cold Stone Creamery coupon floating around. I wanted to remind y'all about how to eat it for FREE!!!

#1 Sign up and get a free Like It size cup with a mix in for your birthday. You can go anytime time till 7 days after your birthday (which is today for me!).
#2. Sign up your children on their website.
#3 Free Kids cup with mix-in in the Entertainment Book.

We used #1 and #3 today.

I noticed the kids cup went up  to $1.79 today from the $1.49 I remembered.

There are also quite a few get 2 for $5 coupons floating around (in the Sunday paper, your junk mail, and in your entertainment book).

Then again if you are spending $5 on ice cream, you might as well get a half gallon of blue bell for less and you get to keep the rest!

McDonald's has ice cream cones for $0.99. You can ask for a kids cone and it is something like $0.25.

You can trade in your kids prize at chick fil a for a free ice cream cone. Sign up to chick fil a's email list for a free cone on your kid's birthday.

TCBY does a free cone on your birthday and on mother's day!

Watch for free ice cream nights at all the places!

Great Scenarios for shopping at Walgreens.

Wild for Wags put this list great list together of scenarios.

Saverella also clearly itemized what you can get for free! Now for me to organize my coupons.

ps. no inserts in the newspapers tomorrow.

All the Woodlands Pools will be open on Memorial Day!

All of the pools will be open every day from Memorial day on! http://www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=357

Memberships are $40 for those 3 and up. 2 and under are $6 for the whole summer. There are a few free days throughout the summer (like July 4). I will keep y'all posted.

Barnes and Noble: 50% Off ALL Kids Books!

Wow! That is a good deal! 50% Off Kids Books is Awesome!

Here is a link to their bargain section.

We recently became members (because my family bought enough books in one shop that the clerk pointed out that if we didn't get the card that day, then our purchase price without the card would be $4 higher than the price of our transaction with the membership fee included). For $25 a year, your whole household gets free shipping from the website, 40% off Hardcover Bestsellers, 20% off all Adult Hardcovers, and 10% off most everything else. You don't even have to bring your card with you to the store. You can just give the phone number that you registered with. I like that you don't have to mess with printing coupons or pay attention to advertised sales. I have been saying for awhile that I think Barnes is a "better" book store than Borders, especially the kids department.

I still hold that if you are looking for bargain books than the downstairs at Borders is the best.
If you are an educator, you get 25% off of your total purchase every day at Borders. Twice a year, you get 30% off.
Parking is definitely easier at Borders.

Seattle's Coffee vs Starbucks. Both good. All this competition is good for consumers.

This reminds me of Walgreens vs CVS. For awhile, I was just doing Walgreens. Now, I am doing both. CVS ECBS don't expire as quickly. Walgreens you can get multiples of their freebies by doing different transactions.

$7 Cars Boy Swim Trunks at Walmart!

I was at the Disney Store a little while ago, and they were $15 there, and not as cute! Today, I found $7 Cars Boy Swim Trunks at Walmart! Woohoo!

$5 off $10 Build a Bear Coupons in Aveda in The Woodlands Mall.

You can find $5 off $10 Build a Bear Coupons in Aveda in The Woodlands Mall. Then, when you go to Build a Bear they will give you a coupon for free purfume from Aveda ($20 value). There are Aveda coupons in The Woodlands Discovery Book from the CVB. I highly suggest getting on the Aveda mailing list. They regularly send out postcards for free samples.

The Aveda store is a fun store to visit because of all the products that you get to try while you are there. Consistently, they have offered me a little cup of tea the last few times I have walked into the store.

Besides the free samples, I don't see coupons very often, so if you ever see a sale grab on to it. I have used my last 2 free mall gift cards there to help defray some of the cost of their products.

Shout out to Anna for being Awesome!

Save Money: Wear your seatbelt.

The Woodlands alert forwarded the following press release. Watch out. The please are out there giving tickets for not wearing seat belts.

Click it or Ticket Press Release

From May 24 to June 6, the Texas Highway Patrol and law enforcement officers across the state are participating in the ninth "Click It or Ticket" enforcement mobilization.

This year's Click It or Ticket campaign reminds drivers and passengers that no matter how old you are or where in the vehicle you are sitting, you must buckle up.

As of Sept. 1, 2009, state law has required everyone in a vehicle to be secured by a safety belt. Also, children younger than 8 years old must be in a child safety seat or booster seat unless they are taller than 4 feet, 9 inches tall.

For more information, view the Texas Department of Public Safety Press Release

For more information on properly installing child safety seat systems, please go to  http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/director_staff/public_information/carseat.htm.

Free Redbox Codes

I just learned a few new things from Couponing to Disney, and I had to share!

Here is a link to her post about Redbox Codes. Woohoo!

New Facebook Page

Ok! I finally did it! I made my one facebook page for Deal Finder E! Go here and say you LIKE It! I plan to post Facebook specific deals to it. That way it will be easy to link to from your Facebook homepage. I will do my best not to be redundant.

Millionaire Mind is an ABSOLUTE MUST!

Celebrate Express: Deal on Party Supplies

Posting Comments to my blog is now easier

Ok, it should be easier for people to leave comments to the blog. Go try it out and tell me how it goes.

Free PDF of Martha Stewart Summer Grilling Cookbook

I just downloaded mine. It looks good. 51 pages.

Thanks Cities on The Cheap!

Well Written Article on Coupon Frustration

I thought this was a well written article about coupon frustration. Jennie from Bargain Blessings wrote it for Couponing to Disney.

I read the comments, too! They made me feel better.

Btw, I am loving the updates from Couponing to Disney during her trip at Disney World. I feel like I am living vicariously, and I get to hear the best ways to save.

Walmart: Toy Story and more!

So, a few things in the Walmart ad caught my attention today.

Sweet Corn is $0.19. That is a buy price!
40 oz Heinz Ketchup is $1. That is an awesome price even without a coupon.
$5 Toy Story 14 ft Water Slide! Looks cool. Too bad our hose water is soooo cold.
$1.68 20 ct Band Aid Toy Story Bandages. That is a great price for themed bandaids. We just got band aid coupons in last weeks newspaper so if your little one is into Toy Story, this could be a fun way to treat boo boos.
$5 24 Pack of 12 oz cans of Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Dr Pepper products. That is $0.21/can, which is an ok price.

So, regular followers do you notice that I don't post about Walmart very often? Overall, I do think you can find deals on many of their processed food products, especially matched with a coupon. I think HEB is cheaper for produce. I also think HEB (and Hubble and Hudson) has better quality meat and seafood products. Walmart does carry things that HEB doesn't have. The main thing is to watch prices and quality on any items you buy because it isn't always a deal. I also tease that it is hard to do a Walmart shop in under an hour. I really like their return policy. So, lots of pros and cons. I guess you see me posting about lots of different stores since none of them do everything for me, and I shop everywhere.

South Branch Library: June 7 10am - Noon FREE Summer Reading Kick Off Party

The South Branch Library is having a Kick off party for summer reading! I went to this last year. It was a great time. I remember there were a lot of people so I suggest either going early or late. I also remember having to park far away and walking. The trolley's don't start till 11am. I love Marsha's Petting Zoo. This event is worthy of going to just for that. They had milk and cookies last year. Plus sidewalk chalk to draw. I remember just walking around the outside of the building and not even going inside.

My Randall's Trip: 5/21/10

So, I ran in to get my little one ibuprofen, and I stocked up on the $0.88 2 L Diet Coke. It looked like most of the 2L sodas were on sale, not just coca cola products. I also got diet sprite. I saw Diet Dr. Pepper was also on sale. Their 12 packs of cans promotion looked good, too! 4 at $2.79 + 2 free boxes of crackers. I just don't have storage space for it all.

I also picked up a bag of Fresh Express Salad ($1) and a bag of Fresh Express Spinach ($1). There was a ton of manu $1 off coupons right in front. I used 2 to get both bags for free!

This time I caught a mistake on my receipt and corrected it right away! It seems to be happening a lot to me. So, I have learned to really check my receipts every time.

I'm Sick!

:( It just isn't fun to be sick. I spent most of the day in bed, and I think I am about to go back. At least I am catching up on my sleep.

Be well everyone!

My CVS Trip: 5/20/2010

I spent a lot of time in CVS today looking for freebies. I heard online about scanning your CVS card when you walk in to get coupons. I got 5 coupons. 1 was a $5 off $25 Coupon, 1 was $1 off Personal care accessories, and 1 was for $1 off 2 paper goods.

Here is what I bought today:
12 boxes of Puffs for $10
1 box of CVS brand Contact Solution for $5.99
1 Aussie Shampoo for $2.99 - $1 Manu coupon from Sunday's paper (Printed $2 ECB at checkout)
1 Herbal Essences Conditioner for $2.99 - $2 Manu coupon from Sunday's paper (Printed $2 ECB at checkout)
$0.99 Cotton Balls (in the travel section) - $1 off Personal care accessories CVS Coupon
2 0.49 personal tissues (found in tissue section opposite Puffs) - $1 off 2 paper goods CVS coupon.
2 Thermacare wraps at $2.49 (it was supposed to give $5 ECB, but she only gave me $3. It was a rain check from a previous trip. I didn't realize till I was in the car looking at the receipt. Oh, well.)
-$5 off $25 coupon from previous trip
- $4.99 ECB from last trip
=$14 + change and I got a $4 ECB and a $3 ECB.

I only need to spend $9 to get $5 ECB on Nivea products. I have coupons, but there wasn't anything I was inspired to get. I will look again next week. Maybe there will be a better sale.

I also have 4 Kashi Coupons that expire at the end of the month that I also have to use. Maybe I will use those to count towards my $25 purchase for the $5 off. They are $2.50/box this week.

My Walgreens Trip: 5/20/2010

I couldn't resist running in Walgreens today.

I bought 2 14 ct Kotex at Buy 2 for 6 - $2 Manu coupon = $4 and I got $2 RR
I also got 2 more of the Off Clip Ons using the same deal I did a few weeks ago. I used the manu B1G1 at $8.99 - $4 Wags instant coupon - $2 Manu coupon = $2.99

I wanted to get the free Stride gum, but they only had one left and my coupon was b1g1 free and $1 off 2. I had 2 $3 RR to use but some I didn't have enough items and didn't want to just buy filler so I paid oop for these things. I know have $8 RR to use up. I guess I will wait till next week. I don't want to make a trip just for free gum this week.

Cheap Eats in Houston: Great Read!

Cheap Eats in Houston has found some super deals. If you haven't yet, definitely sign up for her blog. I really like how well written her updates are. She one upped me on the Sonic promos. Sonic will have 99¢ single topping sundaes after 8 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Same story for all the great blogs out there. Give your email address on the homepage and you will receive daily summaries of what was posted.

B1G1 Shake at Sonic

B1G1 Free Shake at Sonic. The nice thing is if you don't want the second one right then, they will give you a coupon for you next visit. Just be sure to ask for it. This promo is all day every day through June 27.

HEB Coupon Policy: Worth Reading

The HEB Coupon Policy is definitely worth reading and worth printing. I just had an arrrrgh moment. For a while at HEB, I was told you could do one manu and one heb coupon together. And then they started telling me it is one or the other. Now the official policy is online and you can do both depending on what type of HEB coupon it is.

  • Only one manufacturer coupon per item is permitted.
    • Combining a manufacturer issued coupon with an H-E-B issued manufacturer coupon (Type M) on the same item is not permitted
  • H-E-B will combine store sponsored yellow coupons with manufacturer coupons for the same product
    • One (1) manufacturer issued coupon and one (1) H-E-B issued Store-sponsored (Type S)
    • One (1) manufacturer issued coupon and one (1) H-E-B issued Big Savings coupon (Type B)
Now, I know that those letters mean. I plan to print the policy to educate the cashiers in case they aren't aware of the correct policy to enforce.

Thanks Savings with Shellie for posting about the coupon policy now being online. I had looked for it before and hadn't seen it!

Houston Garden Center: All roses 1/2 off

Did I not send this the out on Monday?

I was there today. I picked a nice yellow rose bush for $8.50 (Normally $16.99) I also found  jasmine star flowers for $3.99 and a pretty purple flower that had a butterfly on it for $2.99. What a great birthday present! They also had a lot of things for 1/2 off (including big plants). I didn't see an ad in the Sunday paper this week. It was really hot out there (around 1pm), and there wasn't much help. If you need anything before it really heats up, now is the time to look. There is new place in Spring that says they will match competitor's coupons. Of course, I didn't want to drive today and forgot where it was.

Well, now we know it is called Big Tex Nurseries!

Randalls: Diet Coke $0.88

Laugh if you like, but I really watch the Diet Coke prices. Yes, we are going to make a special trip to Randalls just for Diet Coke. Randalls had a few other promotions that caught my attention.

Buy 4 12 Packs of Coca Cola Products at $2.79/pack (aka $10.54) you get 2 Free boxes of Nabisco Snack Crackers.

Fresh Express Garden Salad or Spinach is back down to $1/bag. Match with a coupon and it is almost free.

When you buy a regular or large signature cafe sandwich you get a coupon for another one to be redeemed on your next visit before 6/5. These are usually in the $5 range so it averages out to less than $3/sandwich. That is better than Subway!

Skip the make it a meal option and go in the store to find a better deal on ships and drinks.

Oscar Meyer Turkey Bacon $1.99 Match your coupons.

Vitamin Water $0.88

Hansens 4 pack of Junior Juice 0.88

Quakes Rice Snacks $1

Kroger: Hot Wheels Cars $0.79

I just went through the Wednesday ads. Kroger has Hot Wheels Cars for $0.79. That is not the lowest price I have seen, but it is better than the regular $1 price at Walmart and most stores.

Big Tex Nurseries

My friend Bobbie found a link to the Big Tex Nurseries I was talking about the other day. Their prices look lower than the Houston Garden Centers. Anyone been? I think the best deal is to bring coupon from The Houston Garden Center to Big Tex.
