CVS Shopping Trip: 8/30/2011

I ran into the panther creek one since I parked just a few spots down to go to Starbucks today. I scanned my card and I received a coupon for a free 20 ct of always panty liners. Woohoo. Summer clearance was down to 75% off. They had a bunch of bubbles and buckets. I didn't need anything and I didn't feel like the deals were complete steals. Maybe when it goes down to 90% off.

Free Chick Fil A Breakfast

So, I have been busy the last couple of days so I just now signed up for a free breakfast entree at http://www.chick-fil-aforbreakfast.com/ . It was easy to do. There are still thousands of choices available. I guess there isn't a strict time limit, just first come first served at the website. I have done this in the past. All you do on the day of is hand over the paper that says you are there at the right time and they give you free food.

$1 McDonald’s Back to School coupon booklets

There are reports in the blogger world about $1 McDonald's Back to School coupon booklets. In the last couple years I have seen the same booklets at the end of September with Halloween themed decorations on them so people can hand them out to trick or treaters. I think it is worth it since most of these items retail for $1 almost all the time at McDs. We like their ice cream. Usually they have usage terms and expiration dates.

Please report to me what McDs around The Woodlands/Spring are carrying them.

ps. Any time you want, you can ask for a free small ice water from McDs.

Walgreens Shopping Trip: 8/22/2011

I walked in with my $10 RR from the vitamins last week that I made money on that expires next week. Splenda was on our shopping list. I was at HEB this morning and saw the 200 ct at $6.99. So, I saved a $1 today, even though I couldn't find my Splenda coupons. My coupon bag is so disorganized. I suppose I need to attack soon since I have a little free time before my class starts up.

I also picked up the $4.99 Colgate Toothpaste $4 RR promo with my $1.50 coupon. How could I resist?

I also got a 8.5 x 11 mailer for $0.39 and 2 $0.15 mini notebooks.

Total OOP was $0.17 with a $4 RR. Woohoo! It was like buy the Splenda for $1 less than HEB and get all this other stuff free!

Michael's Shopping Trip: 8/22/2011

I saw last week in the Sunday ad that the clearance that I had scored on a few weeks ago had gone to 70% off, so I wanted to go look. I also had a request from a special someone for sticky velcro.

The couple of clearance items I picked up rang at $0.20 apiece meaning that they were at 80% off this week! I used the 40% off coupon on the sticky velcro saving an extra $1.20 off the $3.49 12 sticky velcro square patches. I think I have to back. They also had 48 piece Michaels brand wood puzzles at 3 for $10, 50% off bargain books and more. This is a good time of year to find deals there.

Grand opening of H-E-B North Woodlands Market: Wednesday, August 31

I saw the article in the Villager last week about it. I wanted to say that even though it isn't mentioned anywhere, Grand Openings usually mean festivities and freebies. I will keep you posted if I see something specific.

Also, have y'all been to the back of The Woodlands recently? It is really developing.

ps. Sign up for the newsletter from WoodlandsMommy.com. I am impressed with her calendar of activities and Karen usually has a good joke at the end of each newsletter.

Grand opening of H-E-B North Woodlands Market
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, August 31, when the brand new H-E-B North Woodlands Market will celebrate its grand opening. The 104,000 square foot store will offer an impressive array of products tailored especially for the budding North Woodlands area, located at 3601 FM 1488, The Woodlands, TX 77382.

Office Depot: 8/22/2011 Shopping Trip

I went here first since I was driving from Rayford/Sawdust.

I found the 12 packs of eraser tops for $0.01 limit 3 pretty easily by heading the left. The sign that they were $0.01 was falling over.

I found notebooks that looked like the picture in the ad that were one subject. When I went to check out the checker pointed out that the notebooks in the ad were the 70 page ones not the 100 page ones that I found. He then said they were sold out of the promo. He then had the idea of asking the manager if it was ok to give me the 100 ct for $0.01 and the manager OKed it. Woohoo! I just smiled and was friendly. Total Shopping Trip: $0.06.

We can always use notebooks!

Office Max: 8/22/2011 Shopping Trip

This is the week to score deals for School supplies. Even if you don't have a child, I suggest stocking up on notebooks. I ran into Office Max today and picked up the following:

  • Single Subject Notebooks $.01 (limit 5)
  • 12pk Pencils $.05 (limit 2)
  • White Glue $.15 (limit 3) I only got one because the glue didn't look so good, and I haven't had such great experience in the past with the Office Max brand of products.
  • Crayola Crayons $.15 (limit 2). These are great to supplement birthday presents with. In the last few years instead of spending the money on giving birthday cards, I have been giving coloring books (some that say Happy Birthday on the cover).

  • Everyone was really friendly and helpful at Office Max today. The store was empty. I saw some good deals on Sprint phones and on blank dry erase boards for kids ($0.99).

    Best of The Woodlands

I posted this last October: http://dealfindere.blogspot.com/2010/10/best-of-woodlands.html

Interestingly, my opinion of all of these places stays the same.

I wanted to post this since school is starting and keep thinking it is almost time to go to playgrounds again. At least, I can hope we can go sometime in the next month or so.

Texas Ren Fest Opening Weekend Discount: $12 adult Tix!

Woohoo! More than 50% off if you go opening weekend (Theme: OktoberFest). Adults are $12 (instead of $25 at the gate) and kids ages 5-12 are $6 (instead of $12). Reminder: Children 4 and under are admitted FREE.

If you can't go opening weekend, but can commit to what day by Sept 23, you can get adult tickets for $18.

If you stop by HEB or any other ticket outlet on your way to Ren Fest instead of purchasing tickets at the gate, you save $5/adult ticket. I wonder if there is a service fee or if it is included in the price. I did this a couple of years ago. It only took a couple of minutes and was completely worth the savings for our group!

Be sure to look in your junk mail and local magazines and newspapers for free child admission coupons. They had a ton everywhere last year.

Also, go their website and check out what the themes are for the weekends so that you can plan ahead on what theme you would enjoy most.

If you worry about some of the mature behavior that can be found at Ren Fest consider going on a School Day instead.

    From http://www.texrenfest.com/school-days
"The 2011 School Days will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 1st and 2nd , from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.... All Tickets are $8.00 per person, including same day ticket purchases at the gate. "

Tip: My favorite part of Ren Fest for kid activities is Sherwood Forest. Look at the map to find it. It is in the map. That is where they have the petting zoo (watch where you step), elephant and camel rides, giant maze, and other kid friendly things to do. Also, I suggest watching the birds of prey show.

Here are all the available ticket prices.

Fall Festival Guide in Houston Chronicle

I was impressed with all the listings in the guide in today's Sunday Chronicle. It is worthy of looking at if you are interested in learning about the festivals that are scheduled in the area. I couldn't find a link to the guide, but I did explore http://events.29-95.com/ which has lots of events around the city, including The Woodlands.

I ran in today. They have quite a good selection still in the bargain kids books. I would say that there is still more than half the store left.

I was tempted to buy, but since we don't really need anything, I am waiting till the prices in bargain go to 50% off before I start helping to clear the store. I did a few things that would be considered deals at 40 % or more.

    including ECBS?

I ran in today to the sawdust location to get the 3 freebies from the magic coupon machine (I only got 2) and they were out of the items on the shelves, so I asked what do I do since the coupons expire tomorrow. The checker said I could still get the items up to 30 days from the expiration date because they were CVS coupons. Who knew? I asked if this was true for CVS ECBs and she said yes. I wish I had known that when I first gotten started doing the CVS ECB game.

    Borders Update from Suzanne

    ---------- Forwarded message ----------
    From: Suzanne

    Hi

You may want to go now....My parents and I were there the week before
the closing announcement and a book my mom loved somehow did not make
it in our stack.  I told her I would go back and get it, especially
since the announcement to  close-I wanted to check out their lego
prices.  We were there last Monday....there were almost no legos left
a few of the duplo sets.  The bargain books were nearly wiped out and
there was no way to see if they still had the book my mom wanted as
their system for that had been shut off the previous Friday.  It was
crazy,  All the chairs and couches had been removed, they want you to
buy and leave, not browse and linger! lol

I seem to remember the magazines being wiped out too...a lot gone as
of a week after the announcement. Awesome to hear they are still
accepting rewards for those who have them though.

Hubbell and Hudson: $4.79 Hamburgers and Live Music

$4.79 Hamburger? That is cheaper than Fuddruckers, Becks Prime, Chilis and is comparable to some fast food restaurants. The challenge will resisting their other higher priced items.

Reminder: Free Citrus and Cucumber water on the Mezzanine. Free garage parking with validation.

I wonder if they have seen an increase in customer traffic just from having covered parking. It definitely makes a difference when it is scorching outside or raining. I wish the mall had covered parking.

    Walgreens Trip Report: 8/2/2011

    Walgreens on Sawdust Rd.

I found that the Crayola Washables RR promo is for both the fat and
thin markers, so I got both in separate transactions. I went to
Walgreens for the Complete Contact solution $8 RR promo. I didn't see
any one the shelf so I asked a friendly employee and she got one for
me from a hidden stock pile. They were out the kids dha promo. They
said they would order more for the Friday delivery truck. I also found
3 $1 School Zone work books that look pretty awesome in the school
supply aisle. They had a lot more and a few more choices. I thought it
was worth $1 for books on mazes, dot to dot, hidden pictures. School
zone is one of my favorite work book brands. This is the first time I
    have found books so cheap.

They had summer clearance down to 50% off, but I didn't see anything I
couldn't resist. Maybe when the discount goes lower. CVS was only at
    20% off.

    CVS Trip: Aug 2, 2011

I scanned my cvs card till it ran out of coupons. No free Kotex for me. The CVS on Sawdust is also out of Diet Coke and Skinny Cow. I got a rain check for the skinny cow. All I picked up were 3 boxes of Puffs at $0.88 each - $0.25 manu coupon for buying 3. I used one $1.99 ECB I had so oop was $0.43. I still have $3 in ECBs to use up. They said a truck was coming in Friday. So, I guess I will be back for the $0.99 diet coke and to scan my card again.
