for ages 0 to 100!

Montgomery County Memorial Library System is proud to offer summer reading programs for all ages throughout the months of June and July.

The annual reading program includes free programs and activities held at each of the Montgomery County libraries. Stop by your local library and pick up a flyer with details about events at your branch.

In addition to free, fun events, the Library offers age-based reading programs designed to keep participants actively reading and learning throughout the summer. During the summer, readers and "listeners" of all ages are encouraged to track their reading progress throughout June and July. No special reading lists are required, and you can read any item you choose. Awards and prizes can be earned for achieving a reading goal. Participants are divided among the age groups listed below:

CHILDREN: Children up to age 12 can register for the 2011 Summer Reading Program, themed "Dig Up a Good Book." Don't miss out on your chance to earn prizes and incentives for your reading efforts! Young children and pre-readers can also participate as "listeners."

PRETEENS: Many library branches now offer a special reading program just for preteens (up to age 12). Check at your local library to find out about the reading program and activities especially geared for this age group.

TEENS:  Teens ages 13-17 are invited to sign up for the Texas Teens Read! 2011 program, themed "Going Global, Staying Connected." You won't want to miss the incredible variety of activities for teens, or the many VIP parties scheduled at various library locations.

ADULTS: Yes, even adults can get in on the fun with the Adult Summer Reading Program (ASR), themed "Book Trek: Readers of the Lost Book." Registration is not required for adults participating in the ASR program--simply read throughout the summer and fill out a reading log ticket for each book read for a chance to win fabulous prizes! Each branch will be offering a gift card of $25 that can be used to buy books or other materials, and system-wide drawings will be held featuring a lineup of great prizes from local sponsors, such as restaurant gift certificates, free movie passes, spa treatments, and more!

More information and a complete list of activities throughout the library system can be found at the library website: www.countylibrary.org.
