An American Season Street Festival at the MFAH
return
Feb 14, 2010 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
at the Audrey Jones Beck Building

The MFAH and Sunny 99.1 celebrate the opening of three exhibitions—Sargent and the Sea, Houston´s Sargents, and Prendergast in Italy—with a Valentine´s Day Street Festival. The fun starts at 1:00 p.m. on the porte cochere of the Beck Building.

Bring your loved ones and indulge your passion for art! Enjoy strolling musicians, guided tours with themes of romance, and complimentary coffee and light bites. Families can participate in art-making, watercolor-artist demonstrations, and sketching in the galleries.

A portrait artist will be on hand to do quick sketch portraits of visitors. The festivities also include samplings of wine, Italian sodas, beer, and root beer; flowers by Jonathan Andrew Sage; jewelry-making demonstrations; and a tarot-card reader. Plan to stay and catch a film in Brown Auditorium Theater.

Be sure to register to win a prize pack filled with goodies such as a couple´s massage from SpaNow; a copy of the new illustrated catalogue Masterpieces from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston: Director´s Choice from MFAH Shop; an overnight stay at the Magnolia Hotel; and tickets to Bayou Bend and Rienzi. While you´re here, take advantage of special offers for MFAH memberships.

The street festival is free to the public. Admission to the museum is just $7 for adults, and only $3.50 for senior adults and children 6-18. Museum admission is free for MFAH members, and for children 5 and younger.

Special thanks go out to Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Serendipity Wines, the Art League of Houston, and the Glassell School of Art.
