Sail Away: Art and the Sea will take families on a voyage through the exhibitions Sargent and the Sea and Prendergast in Italy. Embark on an interactive, hands-on journey exploring works of art in the MFAH exhibitions Sargent and the Sea and Prendergast in Italy. Make your own work of art as you capture your own image of the sea using texture plates and a fun rubbing technique! Sketch seaside scenes. Be swept away by music performed by the Honors Chamber Orchestra from the Project GRAD Houston Fine Arts Program at 2 and 3 p.m. Listen to enchanting stories that take place around the sea as you explore vivid works of art from the Prendergast in Italy exhibition. Go on a journey through the depths of the color blue as you create your own work of art using multiple shades of blue tissue paper.
